About Us

A Part of Seattle’s History

Guernsey Ostergard was established in 1959 by Jim Guernsey, a Navy ship painting foreman and Donald Ostergard in Ballard. In 1987, Ron Ostergard took over the business and ran the company till his retirement in 2019. The company is now owned by a new group of construction leaders.

With over 60 years of experience, Guernsey Ostergard is one of Seattle’s premier painting and wallcovering contractors. Our length of time in the industry enables us to assist in complex projects that require extensive experience and trade knowledge.

We have painted many of Seattle’s landmarks such as the iconic Space Needle’s first repaint in the 1960’s, and “the box the space needle came in” the Seattle-First National Bank Building (now Safeco Plaza) which during the 60’s was the largest skyscraper, and the Washington Plaza Hotel to name a few.

Over the years we have partnered with nationwide clients with hundreds of stores and local shop owners with a single store and everything in-between. Our many repeat clients come back to us for our quality craftsmanship, experienced staff, and responsive customer service.

“Guernsey-Ostergard did a great job on our 7 story, 2 building complex. The crews gave a daily briefing on work detail as well as weekly progress reports. I’d recommend Guernsey-Ostergard Painting.”
